【摘要】:Thispracticeisintendedtoassistengineers,LDC''sandinstallersindeterminingthesuitabilityofgaspipelinesforasecondaryuseascarriersforopticalfibersystems.Itmustbekeptinmindthattheprimaryuseofthegaspipelinesistodelivernaturalgastotheendcustomer.Anysecondaryuseofthesystemshallhaveminimalimpactonitsprimaryfunction.Itisuptotheengineertodecideupontheorderofoperationsandanyexceptionsthatmaybeinvolvedintheselectionprocess.Beforetheselectionprocedurebegins,theLDCmusthavedevelopedanexplicitagreementauthorizinganinstallertoplaceopticalfibercableswithintheirpipingsystem.TherelevantLDCengineersshouldalsobecognizantofhowtheinstallationofopticalfibercablewillimpactthefuturegasdeliverability,operation,maintenance,andrehabilitationneedsofthepipelinestobeusedascarriersofopticalfibersystems.1.1Thispracticespecificallyaddressesthecriteriafordeterminingthesuitabilityofnaturalgaspipelinesforuseasconduitsforopticalfibercablesystems,asopposedtostandardsfortheoperationandmaintenanceofsuchasystem.1.2Thispracticedoesnotapplytonaturalgastransmissionlines.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
