【摘要】:Ductilevs.BrittleBehavior8212;Body-centered-cubicorferriticalloysexhibitasignificanttransitioninbehaviorwhenimpacttestedoverarangeoftemperatures.Attemperaturesabovetransition,impactspecimensfracturebyaductile(usuallymicrovoidcoalescence)mechanism,absorbingrelativelylargeamountsofenergy.Atlowertemperatures,theyfractureinabrittle(usuallycleavage)mannerabsorbingappreciablylessenergy.Withinthetransitionrange,thefracturewillgenerallybeamixtureofareasofductilefractureandbrittlefracture.Thetemperaturerangeofthetransitionfromonetypeofbehaviortotheothervariesaccordingtothematerialbeingtested.Thistransitionbehaviormaybedefinedinvariouswaysforspecificationpurposes.Thespecificationmayrequireaminimumtestresultforabsorbedenergy,fractureappearance,lateralexpansion,oracombinationthereof,ataspecifiedtesttemperature.Thespecificationmayrequirethedeterminationofthetransitiontemperatureatwhicheithertheabsorbedenergyorfractureappearanceattainsaspecifiedlevelwhentestingisperformedoverarangeoftemperatures.Alternativelythespecificationmayrequirethedeterminationofthefractureappearancetransitiontemperature(FATTn)asthetemperatureatwhichtherequiredminimumpercentageofshearfracture(n)isobtained.FurtherinformationonthesignificanceofimpacttestingappearsinAnnexA5.1.1Thesetestmethodscoverproceduresanddefinitionsforthemechanicaltestingofsteels,stainlesssteels,andrelatedalloys.Thevariousmechanicaltestshereindescribedareusedtodeterminepropertiesrequiredintheproductspecifications.Variationsintestingmethodsaretobeavoided,andstandardmethodsoftestingaretobefollowedtoobtainreproducibleandcomparableresults.Inthosecasesinwhichthetestingrequirementsforcertainproductsareuniqueoratvariancewiththesegeneralprocedures,theproductspecificationtestingrequirementsshallcontrol.
